Dr. Allen Garai

Dr. Allen Garai received his post-doctoral degrees from University of Rochester in Rochester New York, where he completed a one-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry and continued with a two-year specialty in Orthodontics at Eastman Dental Center at the University of Rochester, recognized as one of the top orthodontic residency programs in the country.

Dr. Garai has done extensive research on facial growth and development in patients with craniofacial abnormalities under the supervision of Dr. J.D. Subtelny(Chairman/Director Orthodontic program at Eastman Dental Center) who is one of the pioneers in the orthodontic treatment of patients with craniofacial abnormalities.

Dr. Allen Garai has been awarded the honorary title of “Diplomate” by the American Board of Orthodontics. The American Board of Orthodontics is the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association. Dr. Garai teaches lingual “invisible” orthodontics at the post-doctoral orthodontic program of Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He has also served on the staff of Fairfax Hospital as an orthodontic consultant to the Center for Facial Rehabilitation. Dr. Garai is presently a member of the World Federation of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists , the American Lingual Orthodontics Association ,  American Dental Association , Virginia Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Society, Northern Virginia Orthodontic Society and the Fairfax Dental Society.

In his free time, Dr. Garai enjoys playing soccer and other sports. He is also a sponsor to several area youth leagues. Dr. Garai and his wife, Sherry, have three children.

Dr. Garai has been teaching orthodontics, covering clinical and didactic studies at Children’s and Washington Hospital Center’s Orthodontic Department. Thus, he is always up to date with the latest orthodontic treatments.

-  Lecturing and Teaching Lingual Orthodontics
Dr. Allen Garai has had a special two year formal residency training in lingual orthodontics under one of the pioneers of lingual “hidden” orthodontics. He has more than 15 years of experience in treating patients with Lingual braces and has been teaching Lingual Orthodontics at Childrens/Washington Hospital Center Department of Orthodontics since 1998. Dr. Garai has been recognized as "One of leaders in Lingual Orthodontics in the Washington area" by Washingtonian magazine. He has presented lingual treatment cases at the National American Orthodontic Association Meeting. Dr. Allen Garai has been featured in NBC 4, A New Me TV show and News Channel 8.
